Gopal T. Raghunath, PT MS, DPT, CSCS

Gopal received his BA in English/Literature from Denison University in 1995, and his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy (MSPT) at the University of Rhode Island, in 2001.  Following work in various rehabilitation settings, he went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT) with a specialty certification in Sports Physical Therapy (CSPT) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, in 2007.  Gopal  specializes in the evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic neuromusculoskeletal conditions of the spine and extremities, as well as sports performance training/strength and conditioning, and is certified in basic mat pilates training through RER (Rehabilitation Education Resources).  In addition, he offers private personal fitness training and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA).  Gopal  has worked with numerous athletes on the high-school, college, semi-professional, and professional level, including the NFL Chicago Bears during the 2000 off-season, under the direction of team Kinesiologist/Athletic Trainer, Robert Shultz.  Gopal is also an accomplished athlete, having been a competitive swimmer on the state and national level: High-School First Team All-State honors  (1991) while at Loyola Academy; Finalist and Junior National qualifier in the 100 m. Butterfly at the 1994 Illinois Long Course Summer State Championships; 3-time NCAC (North Coast Athletic Conference) Division III finalist in the 100 and 200 yd. Butterfly while at Denison University.  When he's not busy in the clinic, he enjoys traveling, downhill skiing, hiking, mountain biking, yoga, and martial arts - Tae Kwon Do.  Gopal has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) - Sports and Orthopaedic sections, since 2001.  He is commited to lifelong learning and evidenced-based practice through regular review of current research articles related to Physical Therapy, and attends continuing education courses to further develop his clinical skills in his area of expertise.  Gopal lives with his wife Bhakti in Vernon Hills, who is also a practicing Physical Therapist.
